In the Seed We Have the Universe: Immersive drawing experience with dancer Leah Mulartrick and installation by Elaine Su-Hui

7.30 - 9.30pm. Saturday February 6, 2016

Entry by donation (suggested $15/20). Please pay what you feel comfortable. All proceeds support the Inner Fields New Year Fundraiser.

Focusing on the endless cycles of growth and decay, this figure drawing session at Inner Fields will feature dancer Leah Mulartrick as a ‘plant spirit’ - the essence of consciousness found within all living things. Incorporating performance, an immersive installation and a drawing meditation, In the Seed we Have the Universe will be structured around the three cycles of a plant’s life: germination, blossoming and decay, with the seed of consciousness ever present in each. Leah will hold a short 2 minute pose followed by a longer 7 minute pose for each of the three plant phases (six poses total). Guests are invited to draw her and the surrounding plant installation, with an emphasis on the meditative process of observation and drawing rather than on the finished artistic result. Non artists and inexperienced drawers are encouraged to attend.

This event is inspired by the universal and primal origin of all things, the generative void from which all matter emerges and then dissipates, and the idea of consciousness as an expression of the cosmos reflecting itself.

Some drawing materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own sketchbooks and preferred supplies. Tea and light refreshments will be served.
